LOVE...Is An ACTION Word!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. People talk about it, sing about it, write about it, and fall desperately in and out of it. It's a word that is misused, over used, and taken completely out of context at times. It can, however, be one of the most incredibly powerful words in the English language, or in any language for that matter.
Some have tried to define it, analyze it, critique it, and even destroy it since the very day this world was created. They think LOVE is something that happens to them, something they feel, or just a word they use to describe the fact that they find something enjoyable. They LOVE chocolate, they LOVE football, they LOVE summer, or they LOVE shopping.
Sadly, there are those that use the word LOVE to try to guilt someone into doing something or to emotionally blackmail someone. They may say, "If you really LOVED me, then you would have sex with me." Or they may say, "You can't leave me. You know I LOVE you, and I don't mean it when I hit you. If you just wouldn't make me angry, everything would be ok." Neither one of those, my friends, are LOVE.
If we would become more conscious of LOVE and treat it with the respect it deserves, people would be so different. It would change the world we live in.
I approach LOVE differently than some because I have experienced LOVE differently than some. I think of LOVE as an ACTION word. I like to give it life by giving it arms, legs, a voice, and wings. LOVE is something I put motion to. It's not just the "butterflies in my belly" kind of feeling I get when my husband kisses me. IT IS SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT!
Just like the song says, "They'll know we are Christians by our _ _ _ _, what? Our LOVE. People will know LOVE by what we do or what we say, not by us hitting them over the head with a Bible. I try to walk LOVE and talk LOVE to everyone I come in contact with.
Laying my life down, not putting my life first, for the sake of my mother's life for 14 years, has given me a whole different perspective of what LOVE really is. The true, honest, living, and unconditional kind of LOVE. "There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends." John 15:13.
Bringing LOVE to action is what we all should strive to do. Be aware of those around us. Take notice of people who look lost, alone, desperate, struggling, searching, or are about to give up. We have to reach out and let people see our LOVE soaring high above the clouds on the wings of COMPASSION.
It should be everyone's responsibility to show people how to walk in FAITH, to give people the gift of HOPE, and to alleviate fear in people's lives by being LOVE.
"Three things will last forever--faith, hope, and love--and the greatest of these is love." 1 Corinthians 13:13.
LOVE...is an ACTION word!
Until the next time we talk........Stand firm on Philippians 4:13.
