Thanks, Patty, I appreciate your input. As a matter of fact, I contacted a speciality shop, All Things Irish, yesterday near where I live. They took several books on consignment and will host an event for me in August. Since my main character, Macha, is a Celtic woman and appears on the cover as a Celtic noblewoman, she was sold on my book, etc. We shall see how that works out. My webmaster and I brainstormed some ideas yesterday as well. We are looking at alternatives.Patty wrote: "Hi Jess,

Wonderful!! You're book sounds fascinating. If you get any great tidbits on marketing, please share them, and I will with you, as well! Happy selling!Patty
No problem, Patty, I will. I was looking at your event calendar a little while ago, you are a very busy person. Some of things like libraries, etc. I can do, but unfortunately, tv stations are limited in our area (Spokane) and the so-called festivals in our area are few. Those that do take place here charge you an arm and a leg to participate. However, I am being interviewed by our local newspaper next month re: my novel, so that will help. Thanks, again for your input, I do appreciate it.Patty wrote: "Wonderful!! You're book sounds fascinating. If you get any great tidbits on marketing, please share them, and I will with you, as well! I'm so sorry you had a not-so-pleasant experience. This is certainly a difficult business we are in. I stick with a group of 4 authors. Usually the same 4. We promote each others books at the signings. We take on the media ourselves in each town, try to get radio, tv, newspaper coverage. We're quite well know around E. Texas now. My experience is that when we go as a tight group and promote each other we all make sales. A friend of mine tried to do a gathering of local authors in the mall, about 14. It was a disaster. I stick with Librarys who are willing to promote their library events and I have done coffee shops and specialty shops in the area. I've done well. Go to my website and click on the events tab to see all the places I have been. Keep on keeping on! :)I don't go to bookstores much. They want a part of the profit. Do you have festivals around there?
