Rant of the Day

This one comes from yours truly, Raeden Zen.

So I’m now up to five reviews on my debut satire. As most of you know, I’m a new author and I’m new to this process. So far, it’s playing out like the University of Oregon says it would:

“Because satire often combines anger and humor it can be profoundly disturbing - because it is essentially ironic or sarcastic, it is often misunderstood. Common uncomprehending responses to satire include revulsion (accusations of poor taste, or that ‘it’s just not funny’ for instance), to the idea that the satirist actually does support the ideas, policies, or people he is attacking.”

Um, so, the reviews so far suggest it isn’t very funny for one reason or another and that I love to swim in sex, booze, and drugs. It’s crazy because I’m attacking the idiotic finance policies of Western society (re: endless money printing), the ridiculous drug culture and hypocrisy of our finest universities, and what is becoming very totalitarian-like policies of the US government (re: Drone Wars).

The reviews run the gamut from 2 stars to 5 stars. One reviewer says, “An exceptionally written satire by a debut writer destined to become a classic,” while another says, “I didn’t like it at all!” I don’t know, maybe it’s a sign I did write an effective satire.
