If you are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, if you’re a person of size, if you’re a person of intelligence, if you’re a person of integrity, then you are considered a minority in this world. And it’s gonna be really hard to find messages of self-love, and support anywhere, especially women’s and gay men’s culture. It’s all about how you have to look a certain way or else you’re worthless. I love what Margaret said, but I also have this thing I can’t get past, which is that when you add up the marginalized groups, THAT IS THE MAJORITY BY A HUGE MARGIN.  THAT’S America (and elsewhere).

I think that is, in the end, what groups in power are most afraid of, that we will all realize that, and that’s why there is so much invested in keeping marginalized groups in conflict with each other.
