Rereading an old favorite

I recently reread Georgette Heyer's THE RELUCTANT WIDOW for a book club. At the meeting we discussed how we'd cast a film based on the book, and I realized I'd really like to see Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) as Francis Cheviot. I think he'd be perfect for this fascinating character.

Jennifer Stevenson I haven't seen BC's Sherlock. You want someone fairly effeminate but capable of menace for Francis. A blond Johnny Depp...but he's getting typecast like that, isn't he?

Pati Nagle Who's getting typecast, Depp?

Cumberbatch is a versatile actor and his Sherlock is intense. He looks somewhat fragile and I think he could pull off Francis to a T - foppish but somehow menacing.

He's dark as Sherlock but here's a picture where he's fair: http://www.listal.com/viewimage/2875066

Wish I had the money to fund a production!

Jennifer Stevenson Ho YUSS he would do! Lovely!

I find it ironic that actors play Sherlock as dark, when his very name means "blond."

Pati Nagle It's all Basil Rathbone's fault.

Katharine Kimbriel Cumberbatch could do it!
