I didn’t have the chance to post this here on my site because I was headed to RomCon but I cannot thank Marie and Paranormal Reads enough for taking the time to feature me on their blog!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I just want to take this time to say Thank You to Brynn Myers for doing this interview with us and for allowing me to review Entasy for the purpose of this blog post as part of the tour.
Marie: Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Brynn: I am a stay at home mom with a part time job on the side. *smirk* Add that to my reading habit and my devotion to writing and I am working full time in my home office.
Marie: What do you do when you are not writing?
Brynn: I love to read, relax with friends and spend time with my family.
Marie: Did you always want to be a writer?
Brynn: No but I have a degree in theatre with a focus on costume history. So when I combine the drama and history with my love of all things mythological, it seems like a natural progression.
Marie: What are your top 3 Favorite books and why?
Brynn: I love all things paranormal but if I had to pick my top 3, they would be.
- Karen Marie Moning because she writes fantastic characters with poignant statements that stick with you. I love the Fever series but Dreamfever was my favorite. *raises had to be healed by JZB*
- J.R. Ward because she creates a world so real, you find yourself looking for it in your everyday life. The moment I read Dark Lover, I was hooked…page 62-67 *heavy sigh*
- Sherrilyn Kenyon because I LOVE LOVE LOVE Greek mythology and mix that with sexy vamps and it’s a no brainer. This is a toss-up for me…can I call a tie for Fantasy Lover and Night Embrace?
Marie: What was your inspiration to become a writer?
Brynn: I was part of a FANTASTIC reading group on Shelfari. One of the admins came up with the creative idea of doing a writing prompt where we would create two characters to write about. We picked our favorite paranormal creatures and wrote a backstory for each of them. She then posted a “scene” to set it up a scenario that we would all interact with. We created a story out of her pre-set situations. It was amazing! I had never really written anything before that. I was wicked nervous to post my parts but overjoyed when I read how the story unfolded. I have always had stories to tell and would talk about them but I never put pen to paper. This was the moment my female character was born, the jump off point where she grew and evolved into the Kylah you all know.
Marie: Do you have a particular paranormal creature that you like best? And if so why?
Brynn: Hmm, so many delicious creatures to choose from but I do love a well written, sexy alpha vamp. There is just something so seductive about them and I think I never really got over my first vampire love. I can’t help but be drawn to them.
Marie: How did you come up with the idea for your new series Prophecies of The Nine?
Brynn: Honestly, I was just working on telling Kylah and Aerric’s story. Kylah’s journey from her present, back to her past and then into her future but I kept having issues with tying in all of the people relative to Kylah. Each of them had a unique relationship with her and each of them had their own stories to tell.
I remember going over to visit my in-laws for the weekend and while I was working on a thought for Kylah, it just hit me. I became almost manic with the need to get all of the thoughts flooding my mind out on paper. I stepped out of the room and apologized to my loving and supportive family for being such a recluse and then locked myself in that room until every single thought was out of my head and written in my notebook. That day, The Nine were born. I created each of them, wrote blurbs of how their stories would go, including book titles and mates to go with each. I was exhausted at the end of the day but I knew that I had to get in touch with my editor and tell her that I was going to be making a few *grin* adjustments to the original plan. Entasy is meant to be the beginning of what will be one heck of a journey, one I look forward to sharing.
Marie: Is there a particular character that drives you crazy at all?
Brynn: Dillon, he is a tough one to connect with sometimes. He feels things deeply but he is not one to express those feelings and as a writer, I need him to give it up. LOL! I call him my “crunchy M & M”, hard on the outside but soft on the inside.
Marie: Which character do you connect with the most?
Brynn: Obsydian, from the moment he was created he has been with me every day. I love him and everything about him. The relationship between he and Kylah is a unique one but one I hope you will all love to read.
Marie: Was coming up with the name for each of your books and the series itself hard? Or did it just come to you like an epiphany?
Brynn: *smirk* well it was all part of the manic moment from question seven. Each of the titles relates to something the two main characters will have to overcome or deal with in their particular book.
Marie: Can you give us 3 words to describe your series?
Brynn: Celtic, Transformative, Enchanted. Each of these words relate directly to the characters.
Marie : Can you tell us what to look forward to in your upcoming books in the series?
Brynn: The first book in the series will be called Redemption, Kylah and Aerric’s story. Their past, their present and their future. Kylah feels as though she needs to atone for the choices she made and Aerric, well, he believed his mate was dead and he may have done things that now will prove to be a problem between them. They both have choices to make and things to overcome. The question is…will their love survive?
Marie: Is there anything else you would like to share with us today?
Brynn: I made the choice to write Entasy in first person because it is from Kylah’s perspective. The moments of confusion and uncertainty are all part of how she feels. I needed it to be told from her point of view to create that vague perspective. Liam, Layne and Gavin, while unknown to her, were all crucial to Kylah’s past and present. The next stories however will all be told in third person. The omnipotent point of view will be necessary in order to tell The Nine’s story.
Thank you again Brynn for taking the time to do this interview with us! Be sure to get a copy of Entasy and to keep your eyes peeled for the rest of the books in the Prophecies of The Nine Series!
