Scotland, Wales, Ireland, England...I love
ALL British settings, but especially castles. Cold, windy, and damp, yet still very romantic. There's something about rough stone encrusted with lichen that makes me all...well, never mind. I think it's more about the
MEN I imagine dwelling in such places.
Thinking about settings for my novels, I started to recall some of the more distinctive British settings from my favorite romances of the past 20 years or so. Below I've created a list of classic historical romance novels with real-life settings. See if you can match the book to its locale:
1. The Outlaw Viking by Sandra Hill, 2. A Moment in Time by Bertrice Small, 3. Heather and Velvet by Teresa Medieros, 4. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, 5. The Bride Finder by Susan Carroll
A. Inverness, Scotland
B. Cornwall, England
C. Coppergate, York, England
D. Northumberland, England
E. Powys, Wales
How many do you know?
Answers: 1. C., 2. E., 3. D., 4. A., 5. B.
