Of the many...

(from Secret Six vol. 3, no. 18)

Of the many troubled young women Gail Simone has created, Virtuosa is my favorite. Partly because she’s not nearly so Mary Sue-ish as the others (she loses nearly every fight she gets into), but mostly becase she has this delicious Morticia Addams character design!

I don’t write Mary Sues. I think they’re silly. :)

I did love Virtuosa, partly because I loved her design, as well. She was an uber-intelligent, ultra-classy Indian woman, who ended up on the side of the villains not because she was evil. It was because she worshiped a man, the original Fiddler, who was evil. She herself had no real hate for others, she just was a big fan of a guy who did.

Fun fact that sucks: In her first appearance, she was mis-named as Virtuoso, which still bugs me to this day.

Since there are so few Indian women or girls in Western comics, it’d be a delight to bring her back.
