The Clarion Write-A-Thon
As you know, Bob... (hahaha!) the public support for artists is dwindling fast.
The Write-a-Thon has been hosted annually for the past few years by the Clarion Foundation, a wonderful organization that provides funding for the highly respected Clarion Science Fiction and Fantasy Writer's Workshop at UCSD.
This summer, I've decided to dedicate six weeks to it by joining the Clarion write-a-thon.
A write-a-thon is sort of like a walk-a-thon. But instead of walking, I'll be writing, so I'm asking for one-time donation or pledges per word, since I will take those 5-6 weeks to finish a new novel. And you can give a very low one-time donation, like 2$.
My goal is to complete 55 000 words novel by the end of July. Note: a one-cent-per-word pledge means 55.00$ at the end.
Participating in the Write-A-Thon will provide me with just the kind of push I need to finish my project, a social science-fiction novel featuring a darker and socially backward Canada, and a few courageous characters trying to etch a living while not losing their humanity.
