This story in ten short chapters follows Bat and Mr. Byrd one summer as they learn about the delicate nature of friendship. It's my publisher's first chapter book and mine too, aimed for readers ages 6 -9, although it makes a thoughtful, gentle read-aloud for all ages. Thank you to my publisher, DCB Young Readers, for bringing this lyrical ballad on friendship and love into the world.
