The "short story" that I mentioned last time has grown to 10,500 words. My protagonist has most of the clues that he'll need to solve the mystery, but doesn't have any suspects yet.
Most of the beta readers for The Last Dragonrider have come back with comments. There wasn't anything that more than one of them mentioned. I take that to mean there are no glaring flaws. As I was considering which of their comments to address, I realised I could add a new chapter that would solve a problem that one reader found and another problem that another reader found. Hurrah!
We're still on track for a release by the end of the year, unless any of the remaining beta readers find something that requires major rewrites.
