Why Weimar?

Why do I write stories set in Weimar Germany?

One part, it's what I've been studying for thirty years, so I know it pretty well...

Two: a pointless dreadful war is over, followed by a global pandemic, the people have emerged into a world of massive cultural and technological change, enormous political instability, even the threat of civil war, and fascist strongmen making promises to save everyone, at the cost of their freedom... sound familiar?
