After moving to a rural family home with his owner, a loyal dog must protect him from supernatural forces lurking in the shadows.

My thoughts: On the plus side, the dog doesn’t die.

Movie #11: The Ugly Stepsister E

lvira competes with her gorgeous stepsister in a realm where beauty reigns supreme, resorting to extreme measures to captivate the prince amid a ruthless competition for physical perfection.

My thoughts: Reminiscent of those weird, lurid, nonsensical European movies they used to broadcast late night on the French t.v. stations when I was growing up.

A group of teenage boys compete in an annual contest known as “The Long Walk,” in which they must maintain a certain walking speed or get shot.

My thoughts: A plodding, clunky dystopian misfire.

When two coworkers have to survive the Heart Eyes Killer on Valentine’s Day, the two have to find out who it is.

My thoughts: Cornball disguised as clever.

My rating: 2.5/5

Movie #14: Dangerous Animals

When a free-spirited surfer is abducted by a shark-obsessed serial killer and held captive on his boat, she must escape before he carries out a ritualistic feeding to the sharks below.

My thoughts: Our serial killer delivers an inspired performance in an otherwise uninspired and predictable outing
