There is another scam targeting Indie Authors the book club scam I’ve seen a shitload of these assholes in my Inbox and Dms. No kidding always daily with these idiots.
I just dealt with one this morning before laughing and telling them I’m broke and blocking their email. I’m a big fan of your work! As we get close to the end of the year, this is the best time when readers discover new books. My god tips my ass you don’t need to pay people to review your books and if they are asking for money that much they need a new job. Readers are free if someone wants to genuinely put it in one of their clubs they will buy the book. You don’t need to pay for it the spotlight is bullshit truthfully if they are asking you to pay run. One even said small token like come on authors aren’t rich some of us are barely getting by and it is an insult getting us to pay to promote our books. We can do it ourselves free.

Have you considered sharing your book to active readers club? Like, no shit, but I’m not paying for it since it’s kind of a joke. They expect us to pay for reviews, which are free. I don’t have the money. Some examples are how they say $ 15–20 per reader. Excuse me, who has that kind of money? Feels like all these assholes do is want to bleed us dry and not help us. Also some of them are super pushy you tell them broke and they keep pushing like what point of I don’t got the money that you don’t understand? Not interested in tips or sending you all tokens hell X and Facebook is full of these idiots and they do it everytime we post! Real book clubs don’t charge and some idiot meassaged me this morning also to get me to pay them to promote my book nope. Those prices are terrible and it is a scam if you are so broke you need to hit up authors for money to get them to pay you to promote their book then get a new job. Authors shouldn’t have to pay for it. I mean damn I’m tired of the stupid book marketers and fake authors hitting me up for money like being an author doesn’t pay the bills my day job does. Hell, they want me to compare their books to mine for fake authors and with these stupid book marketers they want me to pay for their dumb book trailers I can do myself for free. I have a backlog of conversations to film due to these idiots.
I’ve been in a funk due to the day job messing with my head and saying that I need to focus if I want to keep working like I don’t have Twitch, Youtube, here and Tiktok. It’s super depressing just going there and clocking in day after day when I was trying to turn myself around financially. I have more plans then just clocking in and collecting a paycheck. I want to write, stream and do more content. I’ve literally hit depressing, broke, rock bottom and I’m slowly trying to take myself out of it.
Sorry if I am rambling I have had a lot to deal with including taking myself out of the broke living paycheck to paycheck feeling. Paying all the bills for a bit left a number on me and made me rely on booze more then I want to admit. Now I can turn to my hobbies and eventually make it an actual income and not just collecting a paycheck day after day I want to create and give my life more meaning.
