10 – Perfect Order

14 – Generational Promises & The Fear of the Lord

When Jesus saw what was happening, he was angry with his disciples. He said to them, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. Mark 10:14 NLT

Wholehearted Seeking

Do you have promises you hold on to when the devil bombards you with lies about your life? If you don’t, I encourage you to make a list of promises He has given you.

The next time you believe things will never get better, ask yourself, “Who told me that?” It wasn’t Jesus! There is always hope in Jesus and the book of Hebrews says He is the God of better things. Jeremiah agrees. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11

This is one of the most beloved promises of God, but there are conditions. Keep reading through verse 14.

“Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.  And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.” – Jeremiah 29:12-14

You have a responsibility to seek Him, pray, and come to Him. God wants to lead you out of the captivity of thinking “things will never get better.” You have to let Him!

If you are following Jesus, He is leading you into better places – green pastures and still waters. But don’t discount the “valley of the shadow of death,” which everyone passes through. It is here you fear no evil because He is with you! You see, better does not mean easy. Better things are always harder.

While you battle the mindset that “things will never get better” deploy the weapon of truth: God’s promises for your life and the confident expectation that sustains you.

Which Wolf Do You Feed?

Jesus-driven thinking helps and heals. This is what the Bible has to say on the subject: For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. – Romans 8:6

The Cherokee nation knew it, too. Check out this spot-on tribal tale:

An old Cherokee chief was teaching his grandson about life. He told the boy, “A terrible fight is going on inside me. It is a fight between two wolves. One wolf is evil. He is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and self-doubt."

The old man continued: “The other wolf is good. He is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.” He then told the boy, “This same fight is going on inside you and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute, then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The wise old chief replied, “The one you feed.”

What wolf have you been feeding? Just know the wolf of evil thoughts will eventually devour you, and likely others as well. Thoughts become actions, and there is always collateral damage.

That’s not you! You can control your thought life and ensure the evil wolf starves to death.
et_pb_blurb"}">Wholehearted Seeking
