The Origin of Stranded
It all started in 2015 when I originally wanted to make movies. I discovered an app called iMovie on my mother’s iPad, and began working on Bobcat Pirate, a little passion project. The movie’s humble cast of characters consisted of Bobcat (who would eventually become Ziggy), Chimp (Ziggy’s original first mate), Herman (who would eventually become Triton), TJ Foxx (a fox who would eventually become Captain Stabb), Dolly (a dolphin (real creative, yes, I know, but this was ten years ago), a pack of wolves (who would eventually become the bear that Ziggy and his crew fight). In addition, Bobcat and Chimp were escaped zoo animals. In 2016, I announced a remake that never went anywhere. The announcement went as followed:
Hey guys, it's me again, what's up, and I will announce that an upcoming Bobcat Pirate remake will be made by Madi Shinx Movies (Madi Shinx was my original screen name, which I no longer go by. I was 13 at the time).
Watch the original here: (This originally led to a YouTube link, however, I no longer have the video file and the YouTube channel is long gone.)
==Differences==
The movie will be extended
Everyone will be played with a TTS voice actor. (If Stranded were to be made into movie, this would not be happening.)
More of TJ Foxx will be revealed during the movie.
The characters will show more personality.
So, that is it. (and yes, I'm still working on the Fab 3) (The Fab 3 was another one of my film projects, however, unlike Bobcat Pirate, I don’t think it ever came into fruition.)
Eventually, in 2022, I decided to rewrite Bobcat Pirate. By then, the story consisted of Bobcat, who was renamed Bucky, as well as his crew, Cameron the flying squirrel, Einstein the markhor, Juni the bear-cat, Apollo the honey badger, Cheri the pony, and Seadog the rooster. I also changed Herman into a pangolin named Neptune, changed TJ Foxx into a jaguar named Captain Stabb (because I wanted his species to be something that can easily defeat Ziggy and his crew in a fight), and even gave him a crew of his own. This version of the story went through several different drafts, the first one elaborating more on the “escape from the zoo” plot. One draft consisted of Bucky getting a girlfriend who was an albino bobcat, as well as a rat king who was the antagonist, and another draft consisted of Bucky being a wild bobcat whose forest burned down (at this point, I’d reduced Bucky’s crew to just Cheri and Seadog)
In late 2024, I read a book called Rascal: A Dog and His Boy, when I came across the page where one of the dog characters describe bobcats as “overgrown barn cats.” This line inspired me to turn Bucky into a barn cat named Ziggy. In addition, I also turned Neptune back into a red-tailed hawk and renamed him Triton, gave Ziggy another crew member, a duckling named Lilyan, brought back Bucky/Ziggy’s love interest, named her Annie, and made her into a serval. Now, one year later, Stranded was made available to own on Amazon! It’s amazing to see that a little "movie" created by 12-year-old me could evolve into one of my books!
