A Call for Help and a Great Video

Hello all!

I have a really fun project in the works, which I am SO excited to share with you...later this summer. I can only give you a few hints right now. It's about Edenbrooke, and...um...okay, that's the only hint I can give you. But I am telling you right now, you will squeal over this project.

But, before it can all happen, I need a little help. I need to choose a few scenes from the book that kind of tell the story without actually giving away the whole story. (And one of them should involve Mr. Whittles's spittle.) So tell me in the comments what scenes YOU would choose, if you could only choose three or four.

And to thank you all for your participation, I have a giveaway. Yes, a giveaway! I will choose a random winner from everyone who comments and send you your choice of gifts--either a signed copy of Edenbrooke the book or a signed copy of Edenbrooke the AUDIObook. I will sign it with whatever message you want (as long as it's not indecent) and send it anywhere in the U.S. So comment away!

Now you must watch this very funny video for Jane Austen fans. My favorite line: "If we lived in the time our favorite show is, we probably would have died of tuberculosis." It's clever, funny, and it even mentions Edenbrooke! My kids have been singing the song for days, and even dressed up and practiced their fine manners. It's tremendously gratifying to see my Jane Austen love rubbing off on them. So check it out!

message 1: by Mary (new)

Mary Harris My favorite scene was when he teachers Marianne how to write a love letter.

message 2: by Courtney (new)

Courtney I love the part when Marianne recieves the book of poems from Mr. Whittles and Philip reads them!

Also the scene when both Philip and Marianne talk about where their sanctuaries are.

The dancing scene was AMAZING! I had to read it over and over!

Marianne's "List of Improvments" I think would be a good one!

message 3: by JR (new)

JR Marianne reading the letter from her grandmother, telling her she must change her ways or be cut out of the will.

The scene in the pub where Philip learns that the rambunctious, insulting woman is Ms. Marianne Daventry and he won't tell her his name.

Definitely the lesson on romance. The love letter scene is one of the most emotionally charged scenes in the book.

To show the tension between sisters, the scene where Cecily takes Marianne's horse, Meg, on a ride with Philip. "I'm sure my sister won't mind if you don't, Sir Philip."

message 4: by Heather (new)

Heather I love all the comments so far and my favorites have already been mentioned (the love letter and when they began talking initially at the inn....just thinking about her trying to fool him with the accent and song makes me laugh just thinking about it). Can't wait to find out what your news is.

message 5: by Kristi (new)

Kristi Spinning. I love the spinning and the accidents. Marianne's character is so charming, human, and funny!

I also enjoy the letters to Grandma telling her about her improvements. Especially her cheeky comments about learning to milk cows.

Love this book!

Kristi Let me amend that.. Twirling. :-)

message 7: by Lacey (new)

Lacey Oh, yes, the twirling and getting caught (by a handsome man and by a tree), we some of my favorite parts. And I also agree about the letters back and forth with her grandmother-- their relationship is just awesome. I love all of the scenes with any kind of romantic tension... in fact I think I'll go grab my copy right now to re-read it again for the umpteenth time. :)

humaira khan Technically I can,t win the competition as I am not living in US.But I will love to comment as I always do in your every blog.
Edenbrooke is unbelievably amazing. Its hard to choose three or four scenes but I will try.
1.When Mr Whittles read a poetry for Marianne.
2.I am really confuse on this one because I think Grandmother and sister both are important.but,I can choose a scene where Grandmother tell Marianne about to change herself and about the wealth she can get through it.
3.The lesson on romance letter.
4.The scene when Marianne is rescue by her father.

In this way all the important factors can cover in it.Hopefully :-)

message 9: by Hermione (new)

Hermione The opening scene in the book, I believe, when Marianne is looking at the trees and Mr. Whittles comes to her with his poems.

As the rest above, the lesson in romance! That scene was just absolutely spectacular.

And when Philip first shows her to his library and they discuss their sanctuaries. I think that that scene especially gives us a good insight on the characters. :)

message 10: by Kim (new)

Kim I love when Phillip corners her in the stable. Trying desperately to get Marianne to admit that she has feelings for him. She keeps thinking to herself how small and confined the space had become. It made my heart race and laugh outloud simultaneously!!
