It took Sarah a moment to unfreeze her brain and return his smile. “It was. Good luck today. I hope everything works out for you.” What am I doing? she screamed at herself.

As their group disperses, he turned right and headed along the wall toward where the executive office waited.

“Not bad schmoozing up to the boss the first day,” Natalie said in a conspiratorial whisper.

Sarah rolled her eyes. “Please, I was just being friendly.”

“Yes, you were. So was he.”
