From Idea to Impact: Reflections One Year After Improbably Successful

One Year Later: Reflections on Improbably Successful

A year ago today, I launched my book Improbably Successful.

Here’s what’s happened — and what I’ve learned — in the year since:

1️⃣ It’s making a difference.
Every month, someone reaches out to tell me they’re applying its concepts — whether it’s getting back to the basics of managing their career or adopting ideas that are already helping them move forward. That was exactly why I wrote it, and hearing this never gets old.

2️⃣ I became “the brand.”
After decades of building other people's brands, this is the first time I am the product. As someone who has always shied away from self-promotion, this has been both uncomfortable and fun.

3️⃣ Writing a book is hard, but …
It’s far more work than I imagined — but also more fulfilling than I expected. I do want to write another one, and thanks to this experience, I now have a list of do’s and don’ts that should make the next one easier.

As for sales, no, it’s not a New York Times bestseller — but it’s exceeded my expectations by orders of magnitude. More importantly, it’s carrying an average 4.9★ rating on Amazon (all from real, thoughtful reviews).

If you’ve bought a copy — thank you. 🙏

If you haven’t yet, it’s still available here:

And as I’ve said before — if you’re thinking about writing a book, I’m happy to share what I’ve learned along the way. Just send me a message here on Goodreads!
