A Natural History of Empty Lots – Paperback launch and other upcoming events
Thanks to the warm reception for A Natural History of Empty Lots over the past year since its release in hardcover, ebook and an audio edition narrated by yours truly, Timber Press has decided to also launch a paperback edition, which will be coming out Tuesday, October 7. That evening we’ll be celebrating with an event at Alienated Majesty Books in Austin, which will include a screening of a short film by Canadian documentarian Brett Gaylor that visits some of the places featured in the book, and a panel conversation with climate activist Alexia Leclercq and anthropologist Craig Campbell. If you’re in Austin, please join us — it should be a fun evening. 7-9 p.m. at 613 W. 29th St., details and RSVP here.
In November, I’ll be presenting a talk about the book at UT-Austin as part of the Plan II Honors Program’s 2025-26 speaker series. 4:30 p.m. at the Joynes Reading Room in Carothers Hall, 2501 Whitis Ave.
A few other events for the last quarter of 2025 are in the works—for more regular updates, subscribe to my newsletter, Field Notes.
