Bryn Hammond Nice. Like the philosophical aspects: idealistic Shelley, Byron not-so, utopianism, active evil. Where Mary and your creature stand.

I'm glad you say Tolstoy demonizes Napoleon - I'd begun to wonder why this fact isn't notorious. Is this fact notorious? I've never gone near crit on W&P.

Gary Inbinder Thanks, Bryn. The philosophical themes carry on throughout the novel, but I tried not to let them get in the way of the story.

And I admire Tolstoy; he was certainly a great writer. But he did go "over the top" in his characterization of Napoleon.
