And while I'm here

I really need to share This bit of unrelated but OMG! news. The RN referred to in the article is my daughter, who didn’t actually assist in the rescue, but singlehandedly saved the boy’s life. When she pulled him from the water, he was blue, had no pulse, wasn’t breathing and had foam coming from mouth and nose. She gave the boy CPR for the 20 or so minutes it took the EMS to get there, by which time she finally got him breathing on his own.

An 8-yr-old boy is alive today because my daughter went swimming over the weekend. I’m so goddamned proud I can’t even come up with the words.

Kaje Harper Good for her - for putting her skill and knowledge to use without hesitation, for stepping in when there was no way to know if it would turn out well. You should be proud, and a whole family out there is no doubt immeasurably grateful.

I really am ridiculously proud. I mean, I know she was basically doing her job, but something like that--and with a little kid!--just makes my throat go tight and my eyes fill. And she just got her degree this past winter! I've been alternating between grinning and not-quite-weeping since she told me about it.

.....and so you should be! Congratulations to both of you! How fortunate for the little boy and his family that she was there.

I really am proud, even though I had nothing whatsoever to do with it. But I get all choked up every time I think of it! The little boy is recovering well and in stable condition now, so all is right with the world at the moment. :)

Erin OMG! When I read about these types of things I think an angel must have been watching over that little boy. How amazing is it that the angel was your little girl!
