Dialogue Revisited

I’ve posted about dialogue several times before in this blog. For me, dialogue’s number one purpose is to show who is doing the talking. Many authors shy away from using the word “said” to fulfill this purpose. Not me. “Said” is pretty much invisible to readers. The eye skips right over it. Creative speaker tags can do the opposite. They call attention to themselves instead of the words being spoken.
