Six Sentence Sunday - 17 Jun 2012

For today I'm posting the opening of a new story, Caribbean Son, set in Barbados in 1713, which will, of course, include pirates!

Richard glared across the estate’s lawn, a scowl darkening his usually animated face, as he stood on the balcony of his bedroom suite, looking south toward Carlisle Bay. Groves of acacia and man jack obscured the beach, but did little to dampen the sound of the rollers crashing on the sand; the prevailing wind carried their roar along with the scents of hibiscus and cut sugar cane. God, how he hated this damned island!

He hated the humidity, hated the ignorant natives and hated his father for accepting the governorship. His life in London had been full of friends; here, all but marooned in the eastern Caribbean, he missed them all. But mostly he missed Thomas--to be honest it was Thomas’ prick that he missed most.

Thanks for taking the time to read! Check out more sets of six here.

'Til next time!
