Squeezing in Reading Time
Finding time to read can be a challenge when our calendars are overflowing and our to-do lists are as long as a Julie Lessman novel.
The last few weeks have been busy for many of us. The final weeks of the school year often are.
Even though our daughter is away at college, I experience the end-of-the-year frenzy from the vantage point of a teacher’s wife. In addition to Open House, finals to administer, and grades to turn in, there are the annual department party and district retirement BBQ. My guy is often on the fly, and I see much less of him than usual.
Gwynly loves teaching, but he breathes a sigh of relief when the graduation ceremony is over each year and looks forward to having several weeks to recharge. One of the activities he enjoys having more time for is reading.
While Gwynly has shifted into vacation mode, I’m in high gear as I prepare for the release of my debut novel, racing to accomplish as much as I can can each day. Time for reading is scarce, but I still squeeze in a chapter or two at night and read a few more while I walk the trail. I’m keeping my current read handy, so if I end up waiting for an appointment, I can bury my nose in a book.
How do you squeeze in time for reading when life takes off at warp speed?
Do you give up reading when your number of activities and to-dos expands?

Drawing for a Summer Read and Tote Bag
I’m currently reading Short-Straw Bride by Karen Witemeyer. It’s a fun story, one I wish I could devour in a single sitting. Alas, I have to sneak in a chapter here and there.
I ended up with two copies of Short-Straw Bride
, so I’m giving away a copy of the book along with the cute tote bag pictured to one commenter.
To enter the drawing, leave a comment by June 12. (Be sure to provide your email address in the appropriate field, so I can contact you if you win.)
I’ll select the winner June 13 and post the name here and in a comment.
Congratulations to Becky Doughty, winner of the drawing!
No purchase necessary.
Offer void where prohibited.
Odds of winning vary due to number of entrants.

My New Website and Blog
One of the things that took a good deal of my time the past few weeks was preparing for the release of my new website. I’ve been privileged to work with Jason Walker of Website Ministries. He took my mishmash of ideas, made sense of them, and created the design you see here. Doesn’t he do great work?
I’ve moved from my WordPress.com blog to my blog here on my gorgeous new site. If you were subscribed to my old blog and want to continue to receive my posts, you’ll need to subscribe to this blog. You’ll find two options in the sidebar that make it easy to do so.
