Reader Question: What prompted the use of the ghost dog?

​I already knew Jerry to be psychic and that he liked to work alone. The writing voices gave me the idea for the dog. People like dogs, so I thought, why not? Only when I started writing the book, it was clear it was a partner that only he could see.
As my established readers already know, Gunter was only supposed to be in the first book. This is the part where I say, Thanks, Mom, for it is she who insisted the dog stay in the book!
