So, Evelyn's feeling humiliated when she comes across Imelda, who is kind of a clever nut AND art gallery owner (a pretty important person, to a painter) and that's where an inner circle of story comes into play.

Drunk on champagne, Imelda tells Evelyn all the lascivious details of her affair with a young ballerina named Ondine.  Within that story, we hear Ondine's tale of her sordid lesbian relationship with another young ballerina, Yvette.  My word, there's a lot of lesbian sex!

Be on your guard with Ondine--things are not always what they appear to be... and sometimes you the reader know more than the characters.  At 50% off, I'd say now is the perfect time to find out how all these twisted tales get resolved.
