Oh, yeah. This was welcome news. To put it mildly.

I'm extraordinarily pleased to announce that Learning to Swim has been nominated for an Anthony Award for best first novel. I got the news while in the midst of a 950-mile nonstop drive with 155 pounds of dogs (no, there aren't any motels I know of where you can stop with a giant boisterous Newfie mix and a semi-senile Aussie shepherd/blue heeler mix, so you nap at a rest stop at 1 am, and keep on trucking).
