From “Wolves of the Calla” by Stephen King
King was one of her champions when she first grew popular, as were many who had no clue what was coming. Myself among them, I just thought it was neat that books were popular again, ones that appeared to be socially progressive.
What interests me here is that the one overt reference to those books is inscribed on the most vile, nasty, dangerous and horrible weapon in the whole novel. I don’t think it means he knew some prophetic thing, for every rare reader who picked up on her real nature in the 00s there were ten thousand more who would find themselves betrayed with only a couple years of growing warning signs before she went full terf.
But interesting nonetheless, the harry potter nod in this book is a monstrous thing that kills children horribly. To my knowledge King has not commented on Rowling in decades, if anyone has heard anything new I’m all ears. King had his problematic writings for sure, but god the irony if he turned out to be the more responsible author.
