Postcard from Camp NaNoWriMo, Week 2

Cam NaNoWriMo Greetings from Camp NaNoWriMo, where I’m in the second week of a month-long writing marathon with a goal of 50,000 words.
Item imageYou may recall that last week, right in the middle of a sentence, my beloved but funky keyboard quit. A big Camp NaNo shout-out to my friends for coming to the rescue and finding not one but two working replacement keyboards. If I had a second pair of hands I could use both keyboards at the same time and really get some writing done!

I am making great progress and am at about 35000 words. Campers who were on track were treated to a beach campfire-and-cookout Sunday night. The 20-plus mph wind made getting the fire going a challenge. (I should have paid better attention to the firestarting instructions during camp orientation!). But finally the coals got glowing and the hot dogs got roasted. I had two and would have had three except a seagull swooped in and snatched one from me—right out of the bun! I tried making S’mores for dessert but never could get the marshmallows to toast the way I remembered from summer camps of days gone by. I maintain that it’s because marshamallows are made differently today but it could be that I’ve simply lost my campfire touch!
