US Resumes Bombing of Hanoi and Haiphong

In May 1972, prompted by a new North Vietnamese offensive, the United States resumed bombing of Hanoi and Haiphong.

The raids (termed Operation Linebacker) were the first continuous bombing effort conducted against North Vietnam since the end of Operation Rolling Thunder in November 1968.
