Jacques put the last items on the tray and took it toward the living room. When he entered he frowned seeing the room was empty. He set the tray down on the table and noted the now empty blanket on the couches. Jacques shook his head and headed to where he figured she had went.
He went down the hall and although he didn’t hear anything he instinctively knew where she was. The door to the her home office was open. He stood in the doorway then leaned his shoulder against the doorjamb. Amara sat at the her desk her focus on the computer screen before her. The tiredness on her face made his scowl. He didn’t like seeing it at all. She’d been so busy lately and he’d been to going out of town more often than he liked. So he hadn’t gotten to make sure she took time for her.
“Amara.”
She glanced up and her captivating eyes were almost weary. “I know…I’m not working.” She smiled. “Looking for a getaway for us. We need some time away together.”
“Sounds good to me.” He smiled pleased and went around the desk to join her.
She stood and he took a seat and she settled on his lap. Jacques inhaled and the scent of her filled him. There was nothing like this woman who was his. It made all the busyness in the world go away.
“Promise we won’t get so busy again.” She said.
“I promise even if we do we’ll take time.” He hugged her and turned her head and kissed her.
And not just skyping when they were not in same area, calls or texts. He made a mental note to cut back on his trips. He needed to learn to delegate more. And he would keep that promise. They might be busy but he wouldn’t let that affect either of them. They would damn well take time for each other.
