A Spooky Good Time in Jax Beach with US Ghost Adventures

I love a good ghost tour, so when I found out about the US Ghost Adventures ghost tour in Jacksonville Beach, FL, I was excited to go see what spooky things my own city has to offer. We were treated to a tour that blended beach history with spooky stories of gangsters and movie stars, with a nice walk and bonus ocean breeze.

Ready for our ghost tour!US Ghost Adventures Jacksonville Beach Ghost Tour

I’ve done ghost tours all over the world, but never one in Jacksonville. All our local ghost tours are usually in St. Augustine, where pretty much everything is haunted. So, I was very intrigued when I found out about US Ghost Adventures doing tours in Jacksonville Beach.

US Ghost Adventures does tours in haunted locations all over the US and even does overnight experiences in famous haunted locations like Lizzie Bordon’s house! You can book the tours easily through their website at: US Ghost Adventures – Frighteningly Fun Ghost Tours.

Let the Tour Begin

Our tour guide Brandon arrived right on time and was quite easy to spot and scored major brownie points by being in full Jack Sparrow pirate regalia.

He gave us a quick rundown of the tour rules and launched into his ghostly tales, for which he also had visual aids in the form of photos and drawings in a very cool looking old-timey journal type book.

We started at the Jacksonville Beach Lifeguard Station, which started as a hotel location. And as with most things in Jacksonville, there was some natural disaster and then a fire and then somebody significant died and they were like, news flash, we need lifeguards.

And then the Jacksonville Beach lifeguard station was established.

An optional ad-on for the tour is an EMF Activity Detector, which is a handheld device used to measure electromagnetic fields (EMFs). These fields are invisible lines of energy associated with electrical power and electronic devices. On ghost tours, these detectors are often used as tools to sense paranormal activity.

How Does It Work?

The detector senses fluctuations in electromagnetic fields around you. Normally, EMF readings come from power lines, electrical outlets, Wi-Fi routers, or anything plugged in and running. But on ghost tours, the idea is that spikes in EMF levels without any obvious source—like a phone or light fixture—could mean something supernatural is nearby.

Most EMF detectors light up in a color-coded sequence:

Green: Normal background levelsYellow/Orange: Slight fluctuationsRed: High activity

When the lights suddenly jump, especially in a dark, quiet spot of the tour, it’s easy to feel like you’re not alone…

You might be surprised just how many ghost stories there are in Jacksonville Beach! We started at the Lifeguard Station and made our way through the pavilion area, where our EMF meters went full blast, then past Surfer Bar, stopped at The Ritz, and eventually ended at the Casa Marina.

The regular tour takes about an hour, and you walk a 1-mile radius, so be sure to wear comfy shoes for your tour. There is also an extended tour option where you go to Ginger’s Place, Beaches Museum and the train station.

The Casa Marina Hotel in Jacksonville Beach isn’t just known for its vintage charm and oceanfront views—it also has a reputation for being one of the most haunted spots on Florida’s coast.

Built in 1925, the hotel has nearly a century of stories, and some guests say not everyone who checks in ever truly leaves. Reports include ghostly figures wandering the hallways, phones ringing despite being unplugged, and the eerie sound of children laughing in empty corridors.

One of the most talked-about spirits is a man in striped pajamas who’s been spotted in guest rooms, while others mention the scent of Cuban cigar smoke lingering with no smoker in sight. And then there’s also a famous story involving the notorious Fatty Arbuckle, but we’ll leave that tale for your ghostly tour guide.

If you are visiting Jacksonville Beach, or even if you are local (like us) and looking for something different to do one evening, I recommend checking out the US Ghost Adventures Jacksonville Beach ghost tour.

Our tour guide Brandon did a great job of weaving ghostly tales in with local beach lore, and also managed to handle the extra attention a pirate costume gathers from drunken beach partiers with grace.

He also kept the tour lively during the walking parts and showed us some nice picture spots along the way. We’ve been on a lot of ghost tours, and some of them you feel like you are just following someone and looking at their back for half the tour.

But I thought this one was well done! And since it was a Monday night, he only had to answer, “Where’d all the rum go?” 3 or 4 times max.
