Life altering news filtered through a book “Finding Hildasay”
I bought this book online from Sherlock and Pages , an independent bookstore in the UK.
And, it captivated me from Day 1. It has been a page turner. A complete story of one man, a military veteran, determined to raise funds for fellow veterans and their families as he battles elements, insects, lack of food, injuries and more in a walk of self-discovery to find his own mental health again.
As some of you know, this year I have had my Mom and my Dad’s older brother deal with health issues. Both are terminal. This past week, my Mom’s sister (one of her caretakers) is undergoing health concerns that are quite serious to contemplate and I was just cleared for surgery to remove a cyst and some fluid in my inner ear. I will be booking that as soon as I can. I have been dealing with this issue for almost a year thanks to the Nova Scotia health care system.
I am not asking for sympathy. I am asking for action – this past week we were all deluged with Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. I made the best of Giving Tuesday as much as I could afford (been saving for months thanks to income from SuperPatch) and a lot went to pet rescues and the NS SPCA.

In action – support this bookshop! They have made a tenancious goal but I know from my years in working in publishing in Ontario that these bookshops are constantly battling celebrating authors to looking at covering their storefront rent.
This Christmas give the gift of reading and help this community bookshop stay strong.
Because the books they recommend are quite remarkable and provide perspective as you go through life.

I managed to be a contributor to an eWomenNetwork non-fiction book that releases on December 12th, 2024 and we could use your help to purchase it online to gain recognition as a bestseller through Amazon (more to come…).
