My Kindle experience (to date)

THE MONSTER WITHIN IDEA was first published on February 16, 2009.  In August 2011, my publisher sent me an email saying they were dropping my short story collection from publication due to lack of sales. The book was available through all the usual channels, including ebook.

My final sales total was: 216 copies across all formats, totaling $1,401.10 for the publisher. (I received a $150 advance against royalties, I earned $47.14, for a total of $197.14 paid out to me)

In Dec 2011, I re-released the collection, with new cover art, on Amazon Kindle. I enrolled the collection in Amazon Prime, as well.

Here are my numbers to date:

Free Promo = 28, 914 copies downloaded

Total copies sold = 248 copies for a total of  $518.32 in sales
Amazon Prime Borrows = 200 copies, with the average profit of $2.47 royalty per borrow, for a total of $494

So, I'm not that great at math, but from the above numbers.
In 24 months with a publisher, I made $197.14.
In six months, pursuing ebook only, Kindle exclusively, I've made $1, 012.32.
