Like A Glove
Feels really good to be back in the flow (almost capitalized that by reflex, silly me) of generating new ideas. Story-boarding always does feel like the honeymoon phase. All of the ideas are bright and shiny. Stuff slides right into place like it was always meant to be there. Everything about the whole process just feels... right.
I've got a solid grasp on the first few chapters. Light framing is in place all the way up to chapter seven. As more of those light frames get built into solid footholds, more frames will get thrown up ahead. Side characters are beginning to shape and gain their motivations and personalities. A new central character is also getting outfitted quite nicely.
Most delightful of all is that the villain continues to evolve. We were past the cardboard cutout stage when last I posted. Now that initial formation is gaining clarity. Their goal is sensible (to them) and their method makes sense as well. There's a touch of sympathy being added that I had not initially expected, which is always the most welcome. A little something something to humanize your monster always makes them so much more fun to interact with. I remain horribly delighted to find exactly where this tale finds its conclusion.
Also, the Spellseeker revision notes have gone out to the publisher. No word back from them yet. If I don't hear anything within a week, I'll knock on their door to make sure the request isn't getting shuffled under a rug. Can never be too careful.
Toodles.
