Monday Muse: Breaking Records

Somebody will do it eventually.
895 goals. Alexander Ovechkin broke Wayne Gretzky’s goal scoring record which had stood for 30 years.
What’s next? Ovechkin now has 895 goals and 724 assists for 1,619 points, while Gretzky has 894 goals and 1,963 assists for 2,857 points. Each have played 20 seasons, so Ovechkin will most likely add to the totals but I doubt he can accumulate the 1239 assists needed to break that record and the points record.
I think the assist totals that Gretzky has shows just how good he was as a player, being able to feed the puck to the right person at the right time.
