$1000/Week Curating Content From a Popular Website

Hacker News is like Reddit but more tech-focused, millions of daily visitors 📈

Hacker Newsletter is…

a weekly newsletter of the best articles on startups, technology, programming, and more. All links are curated by hand from Hacker News.

It’s a side project run by one guy and unaffiliated with HN.

🚀 Kale Davis started the newsletter way back in 2010 and wrote in 2017

Hacker Newsletter makes a few thousand a month from sponsors. It could easily make more if I were more of a salesperson, but I’m happy with it as is.

Asked what he charges sponsors…

$850 to $1000 an issue.

Back then he had almost 50k subscribers. Now he has 60k+ 😎

The newsletter still sometimes has a main sponsor. They also do classified ads for $150 a pop.

I counted 4 in a recent edition + a main sponsor = estimated $1600 revenue 💰

Thinking this could be done for popular subreddits.

I’d really like something like this in podcast form.
