Reviewing: Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard
Book in review: Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard“The fault is not in the stars, but with ourselves.”—Choices are ours to make or not since there’s pre-destined by DNA, ethnicity, clans, kin, and the like…how far one goes is not necessarily up to the individual…
Daniel was rushing toward me through the rain. In half a heartbeat he was beside me and tugging me into his arms. His lips parted, but if to speak or kiss, I never found out. The sky lit up as if a flash of sunlight pierced the night. In seconds we were back on our feet and bolting toward the city. Toward the walking dead.—tantalizingly mesmerized—

What did I like about this reading?
I did find one or more passages that aptly describe the schemes of things; one such example is… “He hung his head and stared at the floor. His hands trembled as he clenched and unfolded his fingers. When his head lifted he met three sets of wide eyes. “The Black Dragon has spells that are especially seductive to a dark magician—to a necromancer. It teaches how to bring a soul from the dead to animate a body. It is like…well, imagine if the spirit, the one your mother let in, were able to take over a human form. Or if every corpse in the cemetery were given a new soul.”
This is another story with using a grimoire as in this instance, there’s a search for the grimoire and must be careful who takes hold of it.

This story was thrilling and charming and very dark as it is a delicious sandwich of harmonious flavors. Some readers fell for Daniel and soaked in the zombie mayhem with glee as well as being delighted with the steampumk fashion and gadgetry.—Steampunk is one highlight for this reading.
A debut novel that is compelling with a plot that moves at breakneck speed…full of action, betrayal and romance.

What I have read or is currently reading!
I enjoy reading mysteries, fiction, supernatural cozy-mysteries, classical literature leaning more on the mystery side of things.
This is where I want to relax and not be at angst with the world; yet, I enjoy reading mysteries, fiction, supernatural cozy-mysteries, classical literature leaning more on the mystery side of things.
