From Beer Mats to the Butterfly Effect: Where The Pub Professor Is Headed Next
📚 Reflections from the Pub Table – April 3rd, 2025
Three months in, four books out—and I’m still a little amazed (and slightly emotional) seeing The Pub Professor come to life in print and pixels.
When I started this journey, I simply wanted to capture something real: the warmth of a pub on a cold night, the smell of spilled ale and ancient carpet, the banter that bounces off the walls, and the unspoken truths shared between friends at closing time. Add in a bit of quantum physics, some tangled love stories, and the spirit of 1990s Nuneaton—and you’ve got the soul of this series.
📖 Books 1–4
Each one has been a lesson—not just in writing, but in listening. Listening to my characters, to the rhythms of a place I still call home, and to readers who’ve reached out with kind words, questions, and their own pub memories.
From Secrets of the Universe to Pillars of Creation, I’ve tried to build a world that feels both intimate and expansive—a story that moves from the taproom to the stars, from heartbreak to hilarity, all while keeping its feet firmly planted in Stockingford soil.
💡 What’s Coming Next
The next few books are where things get deeper, stranger—and even more personal. Without giving too much away:
Book 5: The Butterfly Effect explores how the smallest choices—missed buses, unsent letters, half-finished pints—can shape entire lives.
Book 6: Shadow of Doubt dives into uncertainty—not just in science, but in love, memory, and trust. The past creeps in like fog under the pub door, and some truths just can’t stay buried.
There’s also a Talent Night looming at The Sunny, and if you've ever seen karaoke go sideways or watched a drag act bring down the house, you’ll feel right at home.
🔠Beyond the Beer Mats
This series isn’t just a nostalgic nod to Nuneaton. It’s a love letter to community, to everyday genius, and to the strange and wonderful conversations you can only have at 11:47 PM over a pint of mild.
Thank you to everyone who’s joined the journey so far. You’ve made this more than fiction—it’s becoming a shared experience. And I’m honoured.
Pints up,
George A. Evans
(Still scribbling in the corner booth, still eavesdropping for inspiration.)
