Coming Back?

Hi friends! Long time, no see!

Recently, I announced my return to the writing world on TikTok. In 2016, I rereleased Celine, thinking that I had done something major for the series I’d spent the 4 years prior pouring my heart and soul into. Unfortunately, by the end of 2018, I had pulled everything Night Touched off of the market. I hadn’t written anything new to add to the series with any amount of substance since, I believe, 2015/ 2016 with the addition of the prequel novellas. But all in all, I gave up on the Night Touched. I considered myself a failure for not being able to continue what I’d worked so hard on.

I haven’t written anything of substance in 10 years. The way I look at it, I’ve had severe writer’s block this entire time. Of course, over the years, I’ve popped my head back up with declarations that I’m trying. As of now, I’ve deleted my author Facebook page, and my website went dark years ago. I have been out of the game. Thankfully, though, this year things are different, in a real and positive way.

Let me be clear- The Night Touched Chronicles is DEAD. At least for right now. They’re vampires, so how long can they really stay dead? The story of Harper and Silas is still important to me, and maybe one day I’ll come back to it, but I currently don’t foresee that happening. I had some pretty hard realizations in the last couple of years that the way I told their story was never what I originally intended, so it was never going to be sustainable for me.

So, how am I coming back? If I’m not writing Night Touched, what am I doing? Well, over on my TikTok (@maepro_) I announced the start of a new series I’m working on, and I wanted to tell you about it here. It is a 5 part fantasy series called “May All Witches Burn.” Book 1’s working title is “The Veil Awakens.” All I’m currently ready to release besides that information is that the main character is named Eira Griffin and her best friend is Anest Philips.

What are my intentions for this series? Great question! So, I got into the self-pub world along with a friend of mine because she was absolutely certain that it was the best way to be successful. And it can be… if you go about it the right way. Which neither of us did. So, I haven’t quite decided which route I want to take the series yet. I keep toying with the idea of trying the Trad Pub route, but I struggle because I absolutely love and adore the self-pub world. As I get closer to any amount of it being ready, I’ll start making that plan.

I have Book 1 outlined chapter by chapter, which is something I never did with the Night Touched. I have summary outlines for the rest of the series. It may take a while, but I think I may try to write the whole series first, then figure out where I’m going to go from there. I know it’s a lot of work to do that, but I feel like it’s the least I can do for myself and for all of you.

I can’t promise I’m going to be super active here again or anything like that. I did purchase this domain to keep it where it belongs, so there’s that. But if you want to follow my journey, I’m trying to document more regularly on TikTok (for however long we have it.) If it dies again, I may move to Youtube shorts, but we’ll see. Vlogs of my first journey were a lot of fun, and I loved sharing with you all. So, I’m going to try to do it again. Please consider giving me a follow over there!
