No cliffhangers!

I love reading and like to support indie authors, but I detest cliff hangers! It’s okay to continue the story and leave it open for a sequel, but please give us some closure. If not, I feel cheated after reading an entire book without some resolution and you can be sure I won’t buy the next one and will voice my frustration in a review.

It was important to me as an author that all of my books can be read as standalones with no cliffhangers. How do you feel about this? Do cliffhangers make you pull out your hair or buy the next book?

J. Hi D. I totally agree and have tried to write all my books like you, the conflict, issue, problem is resolved even if there is room left for more stories.

E.K. Frances I don’t mind cliff hangers, as long as the main story has been resolved and it’s part of a ‘big story’ series. (If everything is tied up too nicely, I rarely read the next book because I don’t want to ‘ruin’ the lovely ending.) But... if an author writes a hugely popular series (especially one that gains even more attention after a hit TV adaptation) and then abruptly stops writing the series after say... book five - only to go on and write numerous other books and spin-offs without ever resolving the original series or its cliff hanger... that would really annoy me.
