Rowley Peters and the Lumberjack Ghost

This is not an April Fools joke. Rowley Peters and the Lumberjack Ghost will be released April 1, 2025.

When a young girl goes camping she learns it’s the site of mummy excavations, ghostly frog behavior and the legendary lumberjack ghost, Chicken McGee. When her friend, Huey, arrives she doesn’t believe in ghosts, and the girls argue. Solving the mystery of Chicken McGee might be the only way to save their friendship.

Camping with my family inspired this mystery. One night I heard strange chopping sounds. Ghost lumberjack? Then I learned about the Copper Culture. Thousands of years ago miners searched for copper in parts of Wisconsin. Archeologists believe people might still find copper artifacts.

The final piece to this story is Rowley’s challenge of having a cleft palate and lip. I was born with a cleft palate and wanted to forget the surgeries and teasing. When I joined a Facebook cleft support group, I learned that children and families with these challenges needed support. I thought a protagonist with these challenges solving a mystery would be a great way to show support.

I hope you enjoy Rowley Peters and the Lumberjack Ghost.
