A tourist in my own town
I had an appointment this morning and since it would have been a shame to let this gorgeous sunshine go to waste I decided to walk around downtown a bit afterwards. Our town has recently lost a few stores, Family Dollar and Big Lots to name two. But I’m encouraged that several small businesses have opened within the last year. I haven’t taken the time to visit all of them yet, so today seemed like a good day. Since I have a few days off and the weather is playing nice, I decided to do a little bit of “touristing” in my own town.
One of the highlights of the morning was Ellie Mills Mercantile. I’ve seen quite a bit of social media buzz about this place, but I honestly had no idea! It is a large store that is crammed full of nooks and crannies filled with everything from candles and clothing to antiques and jewelry to interesting and unique knickknacks.
Each of the twenty seven vendors has their own space. I was most excited to come upon a little purple book nook!
No visit to Broadway Street is complete without a stop at the Downtown Treatery. Their doughnuts are to die for!
I thoroughly enjoyed being a tourist in my own city today. I love small towns and ours is a charmer
It’s so nice to see the small businesses thriving.
