Do the Gal��pagos Islands Deserve to Be Icons of Evolution?

Few places in the world are as closely associated with Charles Darwin and evolution as a cluster of islands off the coast of Ecuador called the Gal��pagos. Inhabited by finches, giant tortoises, penguins, and many other unique animals and plants, these islands have long been considered a laboratory for evolution. But do they deserve to be thought of that way?
