02/20/2025 Snippet, JUDITH STORMCROW AND THE FLIM-FLAM MAN.

I knew these gods would come in handy!

Wachfor was one of those towns that had a lot of cults in business, which was one reason people went there to trade. There was nothing the gods liked better than having their cultists fight each other, and every one of those pious servants who was poisoning or backstabbing a rival was one that wasn’t messing with normal folk. Places where there were only two or three cults were bad news. The cults expected you to take sides. When you did, you were fair game.

Towns with only one cult didn’t always last all that long.

In Wachfor you had cults for the Anticipatory Reaper, Rat-God Kritchatter, the Tongue-Ripped Wraith, Rotun the Imbecilic, and Armena the Spider-Goddess (that was the new one) — and thankfully neither the Consumers of Life or Death. Those last two cults were the… ‘most godlike of the gods’ was probably the safest way to put it, Judith decided. You never quite knew when some of them might be listening. The point was, most of the cults here weren’t big on fighting anyway.

The problem was, those of the Anticipatory Reaper were, and some of themy had decided to take a slap at the Fancy Britches.
