Awareness Day in Its 6th Year

In their feature, 550 Stores Participated in 2024 Bookstore Romance Day, Publishers Weekly highlighted the bookstore events around the country on August 17th in celebration of romance novels and the indie bookstores, publishing entities, and other bookish communities that support the genre. Bookstores in the UK and Canada also celebrated the day, which has become an annual event. This year was the 6th year of the awareness day; its inaugural event having occurred in 2019.

Kansas City’s own Under the Cover romance bookstore, founded by owner Carley Morton, received a specific mention and even a photo placement (see picture to the left) of the authors who attended her event, including yours truly (Lisa Rayne).

A plethora of local authors, plus a few non-local author friends, hung out with readers, signed books, and sponsored giveaways. The day brought about fun times for all. We’re looking forward to doing this up even bigger and better next year. Hope to see you there!
