The Ways in Which We Are Like Birds

Hello!

Here is a little more about my forthcoming poetry collection. I feel so ready to release it, it has been waiting in the wings for years. So read on for the blurb and two more little things…

About the collection

THE WAYS IN WHICH WE ARE LIKE BIRDS is the third collection of poetry from Elisabeth Pike. This collection brings together old and new poems and the form echoes the behaviours of birds: homing, nesting, migration, song, preening, and flight.

Miners is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

In this collection, Pike speaks to what it is to be a woman today, with all the complexities of identity, child loss, motherhood, and body image. The poems speak of how much is gained and how much is lost in a woman's life, and they point back to nature as the constant healer. These grounded, yet hopeful reflections on life will appeal to fans of Mary Oliver, Wendell Berry, and RS Thomas.

This new collection features thirty-four poems that were previously published in There You Are, twenty-seven poems that were previously published in Voice at the Window, and seventy-six new, unpublished poems.
