LA musicians and the fires

A huge number of Los Angeles-based musicians have lost their homes in the Palisades and Eaton fires. Among them are the oboist Marion Kuszyk, the trumpeter Christopher Still, and the violinist Aroussiak Baltaian, all members of the LA Philharmonic. A fundraiser for Baltaian has been organized here. Four members of the UCLA faculty – Suzy Hertzberg, Ray Ingersoll, Jens Lindeman, and Peter Golub — have also lost their homes and studios. An ever-expanding list of musicians and composers affected by the fires, among them the noted experimental composer and saxophonist Steve Lehman, can be found on this page; fundraising links are available in many cases. The Trade School, a community arts center that opened this fall and survived the Eaton Fire, has launched an Altadena Mutual Aid page.
