(un)Resolutions

It’s a little after 6:30 in the morning.

My heart is racing and my lungs are screaming—I’m stuck under water.

The wave holding me down finally passes and I scramble to the surface for a long overdue breath, only to find another big wave bearing down on me. It’s too close to do anything other than take a deep breath and hope for the best.

With each new wave that crashes down on me (I lost track at 6), I have less and less stamina (and air) to get through the next.

I’m in the wrong place at the wro...
